A Guide to Printing Your Custom Digital Commissions

Stepping into the realm of digital art commissions has been an incredible journey for me as an illustrator. It's all about breaking boundaries and giving my clients the reins to decide how they want to bring my creations to life.

In this post, I'll take you through various printing options that allow you, as my valued customer, to take charge of the final presentation of your commissioned masterpiece.

1. Find a Local Printer:

I love supporting local businesses, so finding a nearby print shop is an excellent choice. Local printers often offer a personal touch and a chance for face-to-face discussions. Explore local print services specializing in fine art printing, canvas printing, or posters. It's a great way to directly impact your community while ensuring a hands-on approach to the printing process.

Try googling “Printing near me” or “printer near me” and see what results come up.

While not exactly local, some of my customers in the USA have used Costco or FedEx printing services in the past and have been pleased with the results!

2. Use Online Printing Vendors:

If you prefer the ease of online services, consider exploring reputable online printing vendors in your region. Some suggestions include:

  • Whitewall: Whitewall is a premium print lab based in Germany, known for its commitment to producing high-quality prints. They offer various printing services, including fine art, acrylic, and canvas prints.

  • The Print Space: The Print Space is a UK-based online printing company with a reputation for its focus on sustainability and innovation. They provide various printing services, including fine art printing and photo printing.

  • Cat print: Cat Print stands out for its international shipping options, making it accessible to customers worldwide. Based on its commitment to quality and customer satisfaction, Cat Print offers various printing services, including custom, digital, and large-format printing.

  • Vistaprint: Vistaprint is a globally recognized online printing company with a reputation for providing high-quality products. While it's well-known for business printing services, Vistaprint also caters to individual needs, including custom apparel and tote bag printing.

These platforms allow you to upload your digital files, offering a variety of print formats, sizes, and materials. Browse customer reviews and ratings to guarantee a positive printing experience.

3. Print it Yourself:

Have a printer at home? You can absolutely print your commissioned piece at home. I can guide you in choosing archival-grade paper and adjusting print settings for the best results. Not only does this save you costs, but it also lets you actively engage in the creative process from start to finish.

Don’t worry, I am always here to help :)

I'll guide you on the best printing size during the commission process. Paying attention to this detail ensures that the final print will match your vision seamlessly.

By offering these printing suggestions, I'm not just handing you a piece of art; I'm empowering you to make decisions that resonate with your preferences and budget. Whether you decide on a local print shop or an online printing vendor or print it yourself, my digital commissions become a tangible representation of your vision.
